IPS Partner Spotlight: Regency Furniture

#BuildingIPS, One Innovative Desk at a Time

During the I PROMISE School design process, the first priority was clear: it needed to be an innovative environment conducive to collaborative and creative learning. The only setback was there were no desks on the market that served the I PROMISE School’s unique needs. Enter Akron-based Regency Furniture, one of the country’s leading furniture manufacturers.

For more than a year, Regency Furniture worked directly with the LeBron James Family Foundation and I PROMISE School staff to create custom furniture fit for the school and its innovative approach to education. The result is seen in every classroom as cutting edge pieces – including the patent-pending I Promise desk – set the stage for collaborative learning. The intricately designed, two-student desks are adjustable to accommodate students of all heights and ages and are strategically shaped to optimize safety. They can also be easily clustered together to form the perfect environment for group projects or individually stacked for one-on-one learning. Easily assembled and even easier to clean, the I Promise desks are versatile and suitable for any setting in the school from the classrooms to the lunchroom and every space in between.

“We wanted to create a functional and sleek desk, and the final product ended up being that—and more,” says Skip Summerville, President of Regency Furniture. “Now children have a ‘desk buddy,’ and we love the notion that no child ever has to sit alone.”

Regency Furniture is often recognized for its work with America-made, innovate designs that help solve problems for businesses, schools, and families all over the world. Through its custom work with the I Promise School, it is now hand-crafting the perfect learning environment for LeBron’s kids in Akron.

The team at Regency Furniture is #BuildingIPS and makes us proud to say, “We Are Family.”
