On Saturday, August 3, the Magoline family opened their doors and their home to the Foundation and close to 100 other guests to host the Open Door Initiative fundraiser.

The Open Door Initiative is a community outreach program established by the LeBron James Family Foundation and St. Vincent-St. Mary High School. Its purpose is to provide timely and expeditious access to expert medical care and treatment for athletic injuries to all Akron area high school athletes regardless of the athlete's ability to pay. In the spirit of the LeBron James Family Foundation and St. Vincent-St. Mary High School, the goal of this initiative is to better the surrounding community by promoting an open door policy for all injured athletes, providing them with rapid access to medical care and treatment along with safe and timely return to competition. The program was inspired by the generous gift from LeBron James to St. Vincent-St. Mary High School to renovate the Maple Street gymnasium. The idea that this gymnasium and training area could serve as a jewel in the crown of Akron and reach out to support all area athletes was established in concert with the goals of the LeBron James Family Foundation and St. Vincent-St. Mary High School: to make everyone around us better!

There were no caterers, but the food was delicious; the Magoline’s prepared the food themselves. There was no DJ, but the music was phenomenal; Doctor Magoline’s band rocked the crowd. There were no strangers, we were all family. Saying the Magoline’s merely "hosted" the fundraiser is an understatement.

We are truly grateful for the Magoline family and their hospitality. There is always an open door at the LeBron James Arena.
