The Huddle, a new initiative of the LeBron James Family Foundation (LJFF), brings people together to discover and accelerate innovative and transformative learning models to dramatically improve education for all students.
The Huddle is intended to turn a desire for change into partnerships and actions that deliver results. It provides an opportunity to unite a diversity of voices and actively listen to those with first-hand knowledge about the obstacles, hard work, passion, and determination required to spark a movement to improve education.
This movement starts with a shared understanding of the root causes of the problems blocking the way of progress. The social unrest in our country today demonstrates the desire and urgent need for change. This year’s Huddle will host an open and honest dialogue on systemic injustices in public education that disproportionately marginalize Black Americans and communities of color and what can be done to break those barriers.
In partnership with Stand Together, a philanthropic community with a demonstrated track record of breaking barriers in education, the Huddle is scheduled to launch with a live event from Akron, OH on October 6-8, 2020.
This forum will convene the world’s leading science and health scholars, government and business leaders, educators, advocates, technologists, investors and philanthropists to stimulate an open dialogue and offer an actionable approach to transform learning, streamline the delivery of instruction, and open up access to high-quality education to all children so they can develop the skills they need to live successful and fulfilling lives.
The Huddle’s goal is to foster a broad community of stakeholders who can take these ideas forward in a sustainable and equitable way. It comes at a time when technology and education models are rapidly evolving, governments and citizens are under great stress, and the time is right for breakthroughs that can help all people live better lives.
