LeBron grew up in a city filled with mentors and resources to expand his horizons and support his dreams. When LeBron was barely old enough to walk he received his first basketball and hoop. That gift, though at the time seemed inconsequential, would change his life forever.
Today, in the spirit of LeBron’s life changing childhood gift, LeBron and The Foundation formally committed to donating 50 scholarships for his Wheels for Ed kids to participate in The First Tee of Akron. The scholarships will be awarded to those Wheels for Ed kids who expressed an interest in golf through their participation in Akron After School.
The First Tee of Akron provides young people of all backgrounds an opportunity to develop life-enhancing values such as confidence, perseverance, and judgment through golf and character education. It is our collective hope that these scholarships will do for our kids what LeBron’s first ball and hoop did for him.
