Hometown Hall!

As child after child stood up and proudly shared their achievements, an attentive silence befell the room. The audience was captivated. Family News Minute had become a real-life highlight reel. From starting on their basketball teams to making honor roll, our Firestone Cluster Wheels for Education and Akron I PROMISE Network students are having a stellar semester.

Last Thursday, the Foundation visited Firestone CLC for the fourth Hometown Hall meeting of the school year. In another packed house, our January Hometown Hall built upon the successful programming formula established in 2016. The packed night featured delicious food from locals Old Carolina and Crazy But True Popcorn, and our refined program that included Family News Minute, Go Family Bingo, and Family Fireside. The night concluded after the Foundation rewarded two Firestone Cluster families with $1,000 each in groceries, as part of our Just Cling It program.

We send a special thank you to Old Carolina Barbecue and the United Way of Summit County for graciously donating our Hometown Hall dinners for the 2016 – 2017 school year.
