“Life's most persistent and urgent question is: 'What are you doing for others?" Martin Luther King Jr.
Hanging in shiny, bold letters on the walls of the LeBron James Family Foundation office, these words from Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. drive everything we do. As the nation recognized MLK Day this week, we pay him homage each day through our work. And we will not stop, even as our answer to that most critical question continues to grow, strengthen, and expand each day.

This week our work took a monumental step forward as we officially took over the building that will soon become the I PROMISE Village. LJFF and our partners at Graduate Hotels worked tirelessly to ensure every single tenant was moved out successfully and with the upmost care, helping with everything from movers to relocation specialists and free rent in between. Another milestone in our efforts to eliminate another barrier for our families.

Soon our promise will take flight worldwide as our I PROMISE students will be the chosen models to unveil the new Nike LeBron 17 ‘I Promise’ shoes. As these “unboxings” have become popular in the sneaker world – with A-list celebrities and champion athletes often among the first to reveal new shoes for the first time – LeBron’s kids will do the honors for the sneakers they inspired. The special edition shoes hit shelves this week along with our IPS student content. Stay tuned!

And tune in… this week the LeBron James Family Foundation and some of its partners that make all this possible will appear on a special edition of WKYC’s daytime show “It’s About You.” Our 6th grade I PROMISE students will be the live studio audience as part of their “Anchors for a Day” experience outing that will take them behind the scenes and in front of the camera for a day of learning and fun.

As we strive daily to grow our work and enrich the lives of others, the I PROMISE School staff does the same day in and day out. We are honored and excited to again host this week’s Professional Development that serves to make us all better together
